Matt Steffen

As the name suggests, I'm both a meathead and a mathematician. More importantly, I'm a father, a husband, and a son of a loving Heavenly Father. My background is in applied mathematics, and I've come to love graphs as a powerful way to understand and visualize the world. Through exercise, I've learned how to embrace hard things and show up consistently—skills that carry over into every part of my life.

Professionally, I've built full-stack web applications, machine learning models, and mobile apps. I've developed projects using frameworks like React with Next.js (this site), Vue with Nuxt.js, Go, and Python. I've also built LLM-powered applications using custom frameworks as well as tools like LangChain, Genkit, and more. These days, my main side project is focused on semantic search—exploring creative ways to combine LLMs, embeddings, and databases to find better answers to the right questions.
